About Jim Verzino
I am a startup specialist
I help entrepreneurs and business owners develop green and socially conscious ventures
Most entrepreneurs do what they do for more than just money. They do it for personal satisfaction.
For over twenty years I have worked with entrepreneurs and start-up organizations. I have held roles in training, partner development, sales and project management.
In every case I have helped new businesses, or new divisions of existing businesses, go from the idea phase, to the trial phase to rolling out large scale. It is both an art and a science to roll-out a new venture. It is not something that comes easily to most people, but the process can be honed to keep risk low while determining if an idea has legs.
And most importantly, it is darn fun and exciting to grow a new enterprise.
The work depends on just a few simple but very effective principles to keep risk low and results high.
- Have a clear sense of what you want to offer while remaining flexible enough to change with the market or needs of partners and initial customers.
- Evaluate your assets including money, knowledge and contacts
- Leverage those assets into low-risk trials and partnerships and gain committed stakeholders.
- Evolve the idea and upgrade/change based on feedback
- Rinse and repeat until the product or service reaches critical mass
- Put new idea or product into a process that can be repeated and scaled while remaining flexible to market changes.
Currently I am serving as the Executive Director of the Institute for Building Systems. We are a spin-off of an existing company that is focusing on training programs for all facets of green building. I also train executives in business ethics.
