About Jim Verzino

I help companies up and down the supply chain implement environmental and CSR requirements

The supply chain requirements of world leading companies like IBM, Walmart, General Electric, Proctor & Gamble, Bank of America, General Mills and many others are completely rewriting the rules of how business is done.

These large mega-corporations know two very important things that their smaller suppliers are just learning about environmental and social sustainability:

1. Sustainability increases profit. Walmart and General Electric would not be doing this if they thought otherwise.

2. Sustainability decreases risks. In todays more transparent twitter enabled world, even the largest companies can be seriously hurt by brand damage from their own activities or those of their suppliers.

While most believe that large OEM’s and retailers are pushing sustainability and CSR initiatives down the supply chain for risk reduction reasons, it is also true that it will make the supply chain stronger by making the companies within it more efficient and reducing risk of disruption.

Compliance to a myriad of standards is becoming part of doing business for companies all across the supply chain. I help companies design and implement policies, procedures and reporting mechanisms that allow them to comply with these new requirements.

Some of these standards include the Electronic Industry Citizens Coalition Code of Conduct (EICC-CoC), Walmart and P&G Sustainability Scorecard, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody (FSC CoC), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), ISO 14000, ISO 50001 (not yet released energy and GHG standard) and many more.
